Semolina cake (mannik, krupenik)

Mannik is a simple casserole from manna flour, which was very popular in Soviet times. In Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, mannik is also called manna krupenik, manna casserole, manna pudding. However, the content of the dish does not change much from this. Mannik is usually made with kefir. The cake turns out to be delicate and is perfect for breakfast. Semolina cake is served with sour cream, varenye, jam or sweet sauces.

Ingredients

  • Kefir - 1 cup
  • egg - 3 pcs.
  • semolina - 1 cup
  • sugar - 1 cup
  • flour - 5 tbsp.
  • baking soda - 1 tsp.
  • vanillin - 1 tsp.

Preparation method (receipt)

Combine kefir with eggs. Add semolina, stir and leave to swell for 40 minutes. Lace the dough with sugar, flour, soda and vanillin. Stir everything well and pour into an oiled pan. Bake at 200 °C for 35-40 minutes. Sprinkle the ready-to-serve cake with powdered sugar.
