Gyros in Metaxa sauce

Ingredients

  • 500 grams chicken breast or turkey breast
  • 2 red sweet peppers
  • 250 grams champignons
  • 200 milliliters cream
  • 200 grams sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons Metaxa
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • sugar
  • 200 grams grated cheese
  • 1 onion
  • paprika powder
  • garlic
  • mix of Greek spices
  • olive oil

Preparation method (receipt)

Cut fillet into strips and marinate in olive oil and mixtures of Greek spices, leave for 1 day in the refrigerator. Grind the onion and fry gently in oil, peppers and mushrooms cut into cubes, add to the onions, simmer on low heat until all the liquid has evaporated, add salt and pepper. On the other side without oil over high heat, fry the meat, add the peppers and mushrooms, sour cream, cream, tomato paste and Metaxa, simmer for 1 minute. Heat oven to 200 degrees Celsius, put the meat with the sauce in the form of refractory, sprinkle with cheese and bake for 20 minutes.
